Big 5 Blackjack is yet another Blackjack variant that plays to a unique set of rules. In this particular game you will be offered late surrender but not when the Dealer is showing an Ace

It is worth pointing out that in Blackjack games where Surrender is offered should you choose to take it you will lose half of your stake, so you should only take it when the correct strategy dictates that it is the right move to make.

Number Of Decks: Big 5 Blackjack uses five regular decks of playing cards.

Splitting Rules: You are allowed to split any two cards that have the same, equal value or the same denomination and this includes un-alike ten valued cards like Jacks, Queens and Kings. If you choose to split Aces then just one card will be dealt to each Ace, and should you be dealt a ten valued card to either or both then this is a 21 hand and not a Blackjack.

By splitting you need to place an additional bet on the new hand which has to be the same as your initial wager amount.

You can, should you wish, keep on splitting and play up a maximum of four hands.

Doubling Down Rules: You can Double Down just once per hand and only after you have received your first two cards. You cannot, obviously, double down after receiving a Blackjack hand, but you may, should you choose, Double Down after a Split.

Dealer Play: The Dealer will always hit a soft 17 hand. Big Five Blackjack is a no peek game which means the Dealer won't be checking for Blackjack if he is holding an Ace or a Ten.

Online players need to be aware that the entire deck is shuffled before each game begins.

Payouts and House Edge: A Blackjack hands pays even money, and a winning Insurance bet pays 2-1.

The House Edge of the Big 5 Blackjack game, is 0.47%.

Big 5 Blackjack - Hints and Tips
As mentioned earlier Big 5 Blackjack let's you take late surrender but only when the Dealer isn't showing an Ace. It is vital that you only take surrender at the correct time as by using it incorrectly you will increase the house edge and mean you are lowering your chances of a winning hand.

So to guide you in the right direction below you will find the only times you should surrender your hand when playing Big 5 Blackjack.

If you have a hand worth 16 in total then you should surrender if the Dealer is showing 9 or a 10. If you have a 14 or 15 and the Dealer is showing a ten then you should surrender your hand. Also if you have a pair of 8's or a pair of 9's and the Dealer is showing a ten then you should surrender.

These are the only times you should surrender your hand when playing Big Five Blackjack, and don't forget if you surrender your hand you lose half your wager.
