No One is Infallible

Too often we hear stories about those that play blackjack or poker or slot machines, the list goes on and on; that could not control their gambling habits. Normally we hear the story about how someone worked for their company and stole from them and eventually were either caught or turned themselves in before being caught. Then there are those that were running their own illegal casinos and decided to run a blackjack ring for them and their friends. This then might have led to a few other people joining and the next thing you know you have quite a gambling operation going on there. But since it is small no one thinks much of it, until the police bust it and you are off to jail.

The people who get judged are always at the mercy of the court and hopefully they will get a sympathetic judge who will not throw the book at them. But what if you are the judge and you are the one running the blackjack ring?

This is the case with Judge Harold L. who is 69 years old. The judge has been arrested and charged with conspiracy, promotion of gambling, and running and illegal enterprise among other charges. He was running an illegal casino and two of his former card room operators have testified against the judge in order to get lessened sentences.

He will be spending time in jail, but it is not known exactly how long. His biggest problem is going to be the fact that he knows the law and that he was running this illegal gambling anyway – when he had the authority to know write from wrong and punish those that did the latter.

One of the coolest things about being born in this era is the latest and greatest technology that is constantly out there. The advent of smart phones has not just changed life for citizens almost everywhere, but it has also enabled online gamers to take it to go. Teaching Children About Gambling Strategy?

How weird and inappropriate is it to teach children how to gamble? Pretty bad, right? Now, what if those classes were sanctioned by GamCare – a support group that is similar to Alcoholic’s Anonymous? Would you think that they were more or less appropriate for your children? Many are split on the idea of their children taking classes as related to online gambling and playing blackjack, etc. but the support group says that this is the best way to head off an addiction or any sort of a problem later on when they are adults. They are arguing that we teach children about all kinds of things, but we do not explain how to gamble. We then send them out into the world with nothing but the knowledge that gambling is this mysterious sort of thing that they could not do until they were older – making it out to be some sort of taboo thing that they cannot wait to get into.

These classes would teach casino gambling strategies to young children, reaching them before they become gambling age. They say that most of the problems with gambling come from “making poor decisions due to inexperience and lack of information about any winning strategy at blackjack games.” They are looking to change that, and although in the past very few people listened to them, or took them seriously, it now looks as though that has changed.

Shadow Secretary Twigg says that kids grow up without being told the things that are really important. They need to be taught about sex, drugs and gambling before they are old enough to actually experience them so that they are prepared to make the right decisions. They think that this will give them the decision making tools that they will need and pundits say that it is one heck of a math lesson.
