More and more land based and online casinos are offering players the ability to sit down and play in regular >Blackjack Tournaments, this is due to them proving to be very popular
and a cheap way for players to get their Blackjack fix!
The make up of a Blackjack tournament is simple, and you will need to pay an entry fee to take part, however some casinos offer free to enter Blackjack tournaments to regular or loyal
players.
Each player will then be allocated a set amount of tournament chips, and you will then be up against the clock to try and turn your initial bankroll into as much as you can.
Once the time runs out each players remaining chips will be counted up and they will be allocated a place on the tournament finishing position, the higher you get on this ladder
the bigger portion of the prize pool you will win.
One thing you will notice when you take part in a Blackjack tournament is the many different playing strategies adopted by fellow players, some will go for the boom or bust strategy,
much like novice players do when playing online poker tournaments.
They will place huge bets on every hand in the hope they can get into the chip lead by trusting Lady Luck alone. Sometimes this will pay off and they will get themselves into a winning position,
but usually this is a quick way to lose the entire tournament bankroll, as Blackjack is a game of maths and not luck alone.
If you are playing in a Blackjack tournament then play with the best strategy for the variant you are playing, don't take risks, much like the hare and the tortoise it is often the
player who sticks to the correct strategy whilst placing carefully thought out bets that wins the day.
It has been suggested that if you are behind several players in the number of chips your are holding then a good way of playing is to place the opposite number of chips than the chip leader, namely if
he places a small bet then you bet big and conversely if he is betting big you place smaller bets.
Whether this is a good strategy or not the logic seems to dictate that if he loses his large bets whilst you are winning yours you can level the playing field, but often theory and actual
results can vary greatly.
Ultimately you should view Blackjack tournaments as a bit of fun, which is what they are meant to be, play a good strategy and you stand as much chance of finishing in a paying position as everyone
else who entered.
If the Blackjack tournament costs you nothing to enter then go for it, you have nothing to lose and possible could end up walking away with a few free bucks in your pocket, and unless
you enter you will never know whether you are going to win, for as the saying goes you can't win unless you are in.
