Sitting down to play Blackjack for the first time can be a little daunting but once you get your head around the betting decisions you have to make then you will be a lot
more confident and will soon be playing like a pro!
The first thing you need to fully understand is that every Blackjack game will have a set of house rules attached to it, and these are always displayed on a little
sign at the side of the dealer or on the table layout, they are there for a reason and that is to avoid confusion, so make sure you familiarize yourself with them.
Initial Bet
You first need to place an initial wager onto the table this will be your very first betting decision and this is placed in the circle directly in front of you.
This must be a figure with-in the table limits, so don't go placing a one dollar chip on a five dollar table or you will annoy the dealer! Make sure you have enough bankroll in case
your need to double down or split (see below) your hand.
Hitting If you get dealt a hand that the correct Basic Strategy dictates that you should hit then you simply need to indicate to the dealer you wish
to take another card, this card is given free of charge when you Hit a Hand.
To indicate you wish to hit simply state "Hit" or wave your hand backwards and forwards, towards and away from yourself.
Splitting If you wish to split your hand then you need to clearly tell the dealer you wish to Split the dealer will separate your hand and you will need to
place another wager alongside the new wager.
Double Down If you wish to double your initial wager to receive an additional card or cards then tell the dealer clearly you wish to Double Down when it is your turn to bet.
You will need to double your initial bet by placing another wager equal to your initial wager onto the table.
Stand If you wish to stand your hand then this must be done clearly by either telling the dealer verbally you wish to Stand or wave your hand, palm down sideways.
Insurance When the dealer is showing an Ace you will be offered Insurance this will cost you half your initial stake and you are betting that the dealer has a Blackjack.
If you accept it you will have to place your chips on the layout as indicated by the dealer.
If you have never played Blackjack before then remember that the dealer is there to help you and most often than not they will be more than happy to help you, listen clearly to
any questions they ask you as they are doing this so they know exactly how you wish to play your hand.
